About Dynjandi Waterfall
Dynjandi is the largest and most spectacular waterfall in the Westfjords — a tiered cascade that fans out like a wedding veil as it descends 100 meters over a series of smaller falls to the fjord below.
History & Background
The name Dynjandi means 'Thunderous' or 'The Thundering One' — a name earned by the roar of the waterfall that can be heard from the fjord below. Dynjandi has become the symbol of the Westfjords region and is the most visited natural attraction in this remote part of Iceland. The waterfall fans from 30 meters wide at the top to 60 meters at the base across a total drop of about 100 meters, with six named smaller waterfalls cascading down the rocky slope beneath it.
