„Reykholtshver er forn goshver sem gýs á 10 mín fresti og gefur 14 l á sekúndu af 100 gráðu heitu vatni, sem nýtt er til að hita upp heimili og gróðurhús á svæðinu...Hverinn var fyrst nýttur til upphitunar barnaskólans 1928 og síðan fljótlega til upphitunar gróðurhúsa og annarra mannvirkja. Borað var um 20 metra frá honum 1976 og aftur 1990 við skólahúsið vegna aukinnar notkunar. Steypt hefur verið yfir hverinn svo fátt minnir á forna frægð nema ef vera skyldi strompurinn, sem losar hann við gufuna á nokkurra mínútna fresti.“ Af Reykholti er víðsýnt þó það sé ekki í nema 116 metra hæð yfir sjávarmáli.
