民间故事
故事与民间故事
Iceland is overwhelmingly Lutheran — over 60% belong to the Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Catholic Church is a tiny minority: about 14,000 people in a country of 380,000. Landakotskirkja (Christ the King Cathedral) opened in 1929 as Iceland's first Catholic church since the Reformation expelled Catholicism in 1550. The neo-Gothic building with twin spires was designed by Guðjón Samúelsson (who also designed Hallgrímskirkja, Sundhöllin, the National Theatre). Today the church serves a congregation that is largely Polish — Iceland's largest immigrant group. Masses are held in Icelandic, Polish and English. The interior is traditional Catholic: crucifix, statues of saints, stained glass, incense and liturgy that feel foreign in Lutheran Iceland. For Catholic visitors, Landakotskirkja offers familiar worship in an unfamiliar land. For everyone else, it's a reminder that even Iceland has religious diversity.
你知道吗?
Catholicism was illegal in Iceland for 324 years (1550–1874) — making Landakotskirkja a symbol of religious tolerance and Iceland's gradual opening to diversity.
