Hike one of Iceland's most famous trails through waterfalls, glaciers, and volcanic craters.
The Fimmvörðuháls trail starts at Skógafoss and ends in Þórsmörk valley (or vice versa). The full hike takes 10-12 hours and gains about 1,000 metres in elevation. Highlights: - 26 waterfalls along the trail - Two mountain huts (Baldvinsskáli and Fimmvörðuskáli) - 2010 lava fields and craters - Views of Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull glaciers Best hiked in June-September. Winter hiking requires mountaineering experience.

The Fimmvörðuháls hike gained worldwide attention when the Eyjafjallajökull volcano erupted in 2010 along the trail route. Today, hikers can see the fresh lava fields and new craters. The trail follows an ancient route between two glaciers — Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull.
