„Breiðabólstaðarkirkja er í Stykkishólmsprestakalli í Snæfells- og Dalaprófastsdæmi. Kirkjan var vígð 1973. Þarna var ekki kirkja í katólskum sið og fyrstu kirkju er getið frá árinu 1573 með útkirkju á Narfeyri. Prestakallið var lagt niður 1970 og sóknin lögð til Stykkishólms. Núverandi kirkja var vígð 1973“ (1).
