Reykjanesvirkjun er 100 MW, sjókæld, jarðvarmavirkjun. „Í um 100 m fjarlægð frá ströndinni eru um 50 m djúpar sjónámsholur, sem sjá virkjuninni fyrir um 3500 l/s af 8 °C kælisjó“ (1). Í stöðvarhúsi virkjunarinnar hefur verið sett upp gagnvirk sýning sem ber heitið Orkuverið Jörð. „Á spjöldum og gagnvirkum skjám er að finna ógrynni upplýsinga um orku, plánetur og himingeiminn“ (2).
