"Njáls saga (134) Þeir fóru fyrir neðan Lagarfljót og yfir heiði til Njarðvíkur.Hrafnkels saga Freysgoða (1) Fær þú á brott bú þitt og vestur yfir Lagarfljót; þar er heill þín öll. (14) Hrafnkell færði nú bú sitt austur yfir Fljótsdalsheiði og um þveran Fljótsdal fyrir austan Lagarfljót. (14) Á því sama sumri lagðist veiður mikill í Lagarfljót. (16) Lagði hann land undir sig allt fyrir austan Lagarfljót. (16) Hún gekk upp um Skriðudal og upp allt með Lagarfljóti. (17) Ríða þeir upp með Lagarfljóti fyrir neðan völl á Hrafnkelsstöðum og svo fyrir vatnsbotninn og yfir Jökulsá að Skálavaði."
