(40) Á næsta ári eftir dráp Þorgríms kom maður til gistingar á Finnbogastaði. (41) Nú skal þar til taka að maður kom á Finnbogastaði til gistingar sem oft kunni til að bera. (43) Reið hann heim með flokk sinn á Finnbogastaði og sat um kyrrt og þótti enn hafa vaxið mjög af þessum málum öllum saman. (43) Bjó hann eftir föður sinn á Finnbogastöðum og þótti hann þaðra í sveitum gildastur bóndi og formaður annarra manna."
