About Snæfellsnesvegur – Route 54
Route 54 (Snæfellsnesvegur) is the main road along the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, connecting Borgarnes to the tip of the peninsula at Snæfellsjökull. The 190 km road is entirely paved and passes through some of Iceland's most photogenic scenery including lava fields, waterfalls, fishing villages, mountain passes and the ever-present glacier on the horizon. Key stops include Gerðuberg basalt columns, Ytri Tunga seal beach, Búðakirkja and Arnarstapi.
