Hellnar Coastal Cliffs
About Hellnar Coastal Cliffs
Hellnar is one of Iceland's oldest fishing villages, perched on dramatic lava rock cliffs at the foot of Snæfellsjökull. The village has a small café, a church and access to a beautiful coastal cove known as Hellnahellir (Hell's Cave), where waves crash dramatically into a natural sea cave. The 2.5 km coastal walk to Arnarstapi is one of Iceland's best short hikes, with sea arches, nesting kittiwakes and spectacular lava formations.
