"Hann fór að finna Spá-Gils vin sinn, hann bjó í Þórsárdal á Spá-Gilsstöðum, og bað hann ríða með sér inn á Úlfarsfellsháls. (34) Þeir tóku hann upp úr gröfinni og lögðu hann í sleða og beittu fyrir tvo sterka yxn og drógu hann upp á Úlfarsfellsháls og voru þá þrotnir yxnirnir og teknir aðrir og drógu hann inn á hálsinn. (43) Eftir þetta riðu þeir Steinþór brott af Bakka, nær sex tigir manna, inn eftir Skeiðum til Drápuhlíðar og inn yfir Vatnsháls og um þveran Svelgsárdal og stefndu þaðan inná Úlfarsfellsháls. (44) Tóku þeir þá hesta sína og riðu eftir Steinþóri sem ákafast og voru þeir á Úlfarsfellshálsi þá er bardaginn var á skriðunni."
