"Herði gaf hún Hörðadal allan út til Skrámuhlaupsár. (7) Þar kom Dala-Kollur mágur hennar og Hörður úr Hörðadal og margt annað stórmenni. (57) Þorgils bjó í Hörðadal á þeim bæ er í Tungu heitir. (61) Réðst nú þetta að þeir Þorsteinn og Lambi skulu ráðast með Þorgísli til ferðar, kváðu á með sér að þeir skyldu koma þriðja dag snemma í Tungu í Hörðadal. (62) Þorgils býst nú heiman og ríða þeir upp eftir Hörðadal tíu saman. (63) Þar hefir þú séð Þorgils Hölluson vestan úr Hörðadal. (65) Eftir þessi tíðindi ríða þeir Þorgils í brott og yfir hálsinn til Reykjardals og lýstu þar vígum þessum, riðu síðan hina sömu leið vestur sem þeir höfðu vestan riðið, léttu eigi sinni ferð fyrr en þeir komu í Hörðadal."
