In June and July, the sun never fully sets in Iceland. Golfers at Akureyri can tee off at midnight under natural daylight.
The Arctic Open in Akureyri has been played under the midnight sun since 1986 — players tee off at 10pm and finish after midnight.
The Westman Islands Golf Club was partially buried by lava during the 1973 volcanic eruption. The course was rebuilt right next to the solidified lava flow.
Ness Golf Club was founded in 1934 — one of the oldest golf clubs in the Nordic countries.
Puffins are a genuine hazard at the Westman Islands Golf Club — they nest in burrows along the cliff-top fairways and occasionally wander across the greens.

Korpa is Reykjavík Golf Club's 27-hole facility in Kópavogur, made up of three independent nine-hole loops: Sjórinn (par 36), Áin (par 36), and Landið (par 36). Each loop can be played on its own or combined in pairs for an 18-hole round at par 72. The Sjórinn loop runs close to the coastline with views toward the Atlantic; the Áin loop follows the river that winds through the Korpúlfsstaðir estate; the Landið loop is the most inland of the three. The facility is set on the historically significant Korpúlfsstaðir estate in Kópavogur, roughly 15 minutes from central Reykjavík. The club operates one of Iceland's most active junior programmes and shares a pro shop, driving range, and clubhouse with the Grafarholt course across town. The course winds through a leafy suburban landscape with views of the surrounding mountains. GKG also operates the separate 9-hole Mýrin course on the same grounds.

Oddur Golf Club
Urriðavöllur is an 18-hole, par 71 heathland course built across a lava field from the dormant Búrfell shield volcano in Garðabær. The black-rock framing of the fairways gives the course a distinctly Icelandic character rare in European heathland design. Golfklúbburinn Oddur was formally established in 1993 and expanded to a full 18-hole layout in 1997. The club has hosted the 2016 European Ladies' Amateur Team Championship (20 national teams) and the 2022 European Girls' Team Championship — Iceland's most internationally recognised amateur venue outside Reykjavík Golf Club. Urriðavatn lake runs along the course boundary and influences wind patterns on several holes. On-site restaurant Hola Mathús is open daily from 8:00. The course is 20 minutes from central Reykjavík and 45 km from Keflavík Airport.

Suðurnes Golf Club
Hólmsvöllur is an 18-hole, par 72 links course at Garðskagi — the closest championship course to Keflavík International Airport, under 10 minutes' drive from the terminal. Founded in 1964 and expanded to 18 holes by Swedish architect Niels Skjold in 1986, the course places five holes with direct Atlantic exposure at Garðskagi point alongside thirteen holes winding through lava heath. The third hole, Bergvík, demands a tee shot of up to 183 metres entirely over a sea inlet — one of the most dramatic single holes in Icelandic golf. The club hosted the 2005 Icelandic Stroke Play Championship and was nominated Iceland's best course by the World Golf Awards in 2019. On-site restaurant NÍTJÁNDA BISTRO is open daily. Approximately 50 km from central Reykjavík.

The course straddles the boundary of the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates on Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula, with five holes running along the Atlantic coastline and thirteen winding through contiguous lava fields north of the Reykjanesvíta road. Founded in 1981, the club opened a major new 18-hole layout in 2012. The course is approximately 50 km from Reykjavík and 7 km from the Blue Lagoon. Important: Grindavík is in an active volcanic zone. The course was confirmed operating in the 2026 season, but road access can close with short notice during eruption events. The Mýrin nine-hole course is the shorter half of Golfklúbbur Kópavogs og Garðabæjar's (GKG) 27-hole complex in Garðabær. Added in 2007 as part of a club expansion designed by Swedish architect Jan Sederholm with later enhancements by Icelandic designer Andrés Guðmundsson, Mýrin plays to par 34 from approximately 2,400 metres at back tees — a compact lake-and-bunker test well suited to morning warm-up rounds or golfers new to links-style conditions. The adjacent 18-hole Leirdalsvöllur championship course has hosted the Icelandic National Championship. Shared facilities include a driving range, pro shop, and restaurant. The club sits on Route 41, approximately 7 km from central Reykjavík and 35–40 minutes from Keflavík Airport.

Ólafsvík Golf Club
Golfklúbburinn Jökull has played golf on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula since 1973. In July 2026 the club relocated from the former Fróðarvöllur site near Ólafsvík to a new 9-hole course, Rifsvöllur, in the village of Rif — directly at the foot of Snæfellsjökull glacier. The new course plays across open coastal farmland with the glacier and the North Atlantic as the permanent backdrop.

Hellishólar Golf Club
Þverárvöllur is a 9-hole, par 36 layout in the Fljótshlíð valley beneath the Eyjafjöll mountain range in South Iceland. Two rivers — Þverá and Grjótá — run directly through the course, creating natural water hazards on almost every hole. The fairways are framed by the volcanic silhouette of Eyjafjallajökull to the east and Tindfjallajökull to the north. The course is part of the Hellishólar estate, a working equestrian centre with self-catering accommodation; horse trekking is available from a neighbouring farm 2 km away. Hellishólar is approximately 10 km north of Hvolsvöllur along Route 261, 30 km west of Skógar waterfall, and 120 km from Reykjavík along the Ring Road.
