The Suðurnes Science and Learning Center is a family-oriented museum and educational attraction in Sandgerði. Its nature gallery covers Icelandic wildlife and marine life, with preserved specimens, live sea creatures, shells and whale bones. A historical exhibition explores the polar scientist Jean-Baptiste Charcot and the research ship Pourquoi-Pas?, while a separate art-and-education exhibition links marine science with storytelling. Public exhibition opening is seasonal, with group access possible outside the main season by arrangement, so check current hours before visiting.
