„Staðurinn er í alfaraleið um Kjósarhrepp og margir telja það helsta kennileiti sveitarinnar“ (1). „Meðalfellsvatn í Kjós er gott veiðivatn. Áin Bugða rennur úr því í Laxá í Kjós. Í vatninu veiðist mikið af silungi en hann er fremur smár. Einnig hefur talsvert af sjóbirtingi fengist og laxveiði er óvíða meiri í stöðuvötnum landsins. Meðalfellsvatn er í um 46 m hæð yfir sjávarmáli og 2.03 km2 að stærð. Mesta dýpi þess er um 18.5 m en 2-5 m á dýpt á flestum stöðum. Strandlengjan er um 6 km að lengd“ (2).
