The bathing site was long known internationally as Mývatn Nature Baths. A major redevelopment introduced expanded lagoon areas and new facilities, and in 2026 the attraction entered a new phase under the name Earth Lagoon Mývatn.

Earth Lagoon Mývatn is the current name of the geothermal bathing destination formerly known as Mývatn Nature Baths. Located at Jarðbaðshólar beside the Lake Mývatn volcanic region, the attraction underwent a major redevelopment and opened its expanded facilities in 2026. The lagoon uses geothermal water in a landscape surrounded by lava, mountains and active geothermal features. Bathing temperatures are generally maintained in the high 30s Celsius, while a natural steam bath uses geothermal steam flowing directly from the ground. The updated complex also includes improved changing facilities, food and drink services and different bathing areas. The lagoon is easily combined with nearby attractions including Hverir, Krafla, Dimmuborgir and Hverfjall.
