„Alexandersflugvöllur eða Sauðárkróksflugvöllur er flugvöllur við botn Skagafjarðar, á Borgarsandi austan við Sjávarborg. Flugbrautin er rúmlega 2000 metra löng“ (1). „Á tjörnunum við flugvöllinn, sem eru að hluta til manngerðar, hafa sést margar tegundir fugla. Sýna þessar tjarnir fjölbreytta flóru fuglalífsins í Skagafirði. Tegundir sem sjást á tjörnunum: Lóuþræll, kría, rauðhöfði, jaðrakan, stokkönd, skúfönd, gargönd, urtönd, duggönd, stelkur, óðinshani, stormmáfur“ (2).
