Stekkjarkot — Reykjanes Museum of Heritage

Stekkjarkot is part of the Reykjanes Museum of Heritage and preserves a traditional cottage built from turf, stone and timber. The older section, with an open hearth, dates to the 19th century, while the newer section reflects later improvements such as floorboards and a coal-fired stove. The restored cottage opened to the public in 1993 after restoration work. Visit Reykjanes currently lists access by request and free admission, so confirm arrangements before making a special trip.
