Skógur í Þjórsárdal

Historical accounts suggest that Þjórsárdalur was heavily wooded at settlement, although farming and eruptions reduced the forest over time. Surviving and restored woodland continued to provide timber and woodland resources to farms across Árnessýsla for centuries, giving the area both ecological and cultural value.
