About Rauðnefsstaðir
Gamlar tóftir á Rauðnefsstöðum. Þar má enn sjá í gamlar hleðslur sem segja mikla sögu, en Rauðnefsstaðir fóru í eyði þegar Hekla gaus árið 1947 (1). Það var síðasta Heklugosið til að eyða bæjum á Rangárvöllum svo vitað sé en því fylgdi mikið öskufall um ofanverða Rangárvelli og í Fljótshlíð (2). Rauðnefsstaðir eru landnámsjörð skv. Landnámu, þar bjó Hrólfur rauðskeggur sem nam Hólmslönd öll milli Fiskár og Rangár (3).
