The Old Church in Grindavík was consecrated in 1909 and served as the town's church until 12 September 1982, when it was taken out of ecclesiastical use after the newer Grindavíkurkirkja opened. From 1989 until 2001 the building was used by the private daycare Kirkjukot. It remains an important part of Grindavík's 20th-century townscape and church history.
