„Bær í Hörgárdal í Eyjafjarðarsýslu heitir Myrká eftir samnefndri á. Bærinn er alþekktur úr þjóðsögunni um djáknann á Myrká, sem birtist í þjóðsagnasafni Jóns Árnasonar (I:270-272 (1961)). Myrká fellur eftir Myrkárdal sem gengur vestur úr Hörgárdal“ (1). „Myrká er sögusvið frægustu íslensku draugasögunnar sem fjallar um samskipti Guðrúnar á Bægisá og djáknans á Myrká. Í hlaðinu á bænum er Djáknasteinn sem talinn er vera leiði djáknans sáluga“ (2).
