History & Background
Hof opened in August 2010 as a purpose-built cultural and conference centre for Akureyri. It was created to provide first-class facilities for music, performing arts, meetings, exhibitions and larger events in North Iceland.
Hof Cultural and Conference Centre is one of Akureyri's main modern cultural venues. Located on Strandgata by the waterfront, the building opened in August 2010 and was designed for both performing arts and professional events. Hof hosts concerts, theatre, dance, exhibitions, meetings, receptions and conferences throughout the year. Two larger auditoriums and extensive technical facilities allow the centre to accommodate events ranging from intimate performances to major gatherings. Its central location makes Hof easy to include while exploring Akureyri on foot. Ráðhústorg is nearby, the waterfront continues north toward Oddeyri, and central shops and restaurants are only a short walk away. Because the visitor experience depends heavily on the current programme, checking event listings in advance is more useful than treating Hof as a static museum attraction.
