Ingjaldshóll was a major farm, parsonage and assembly site for Neshreppur outside Enni. A church has stood here since the 13th century, preceded by a chapel. The present church was built in 1903 and is regarded as the oldest concrete church in Iceland. When built, it received a replica of the altarpiece from Reykjavík Cathedral.

Ingjaldshólskirkja sits on one of Iceland's oldest church sites (since 1200s). It's associated with Guðríður Þorbjarnardóttir (c.980-1050), one of the most-traveled women in Norse sagas — she journeyed to Greenland, North America (Vinland), Rome, and back to Iceland. Local legend claims she was an ancestor of Christopher Columbus. A statue of Guðríður and her son Snorri (first European born in North America) stands near the church. The current building dates from 1903. It's a peaceful, historic site on scenic Snæfellsnes.
