About Íbúðarhús og smíðahús á Skipalóni
„Á Skipalóni eru tvö hús í vörslu Þjóðminjasafns Íslands. Þar bjó Þorsteinn Daníelsson (1796-1882) smiður og mikill athafnamaður. Hann var brautryðjandi á sviði jarðræktar í Eyjafirði og upphafsmaður að þilskipaútgerð við Eyjafjörð. Smíðaði Þorsteinn bæði húsin á Skipalóni og ýmis önnur merk hús fyrir norðan, auk báta og ýmsa gripi úr tré og járni. Íbúðarhúsið, sem gengur undir nafninu Lónsstofa, reisti hann árið 1824 og nítján árum síðar smíðahúsið. Eins og nafnið bendir til hafði Þorsteinn þar verkstæði sitt.“
