Hjallar eru rústir í gömlu bæjarstæði í Skötufirði. „Bæjarstæðið á Hjöllum er án efa eitt hið sérkennilegasta á Vestfjörðum, og jafnvel þótt allt landið sé tekið með. Bærinn svo að segja í miðri snarbrattri fjallshlíð, landkostir mjög takmarkaðir, og sjávargatan brött og stórgrýtt. Má geta nærri að ógreiðfært hafi verið í myrkri, sleipu og snjóófærð að klöngrast niður „Hjallabakkana“, þegar hyggja skyldi að sjóferð.“
