Fúlipollur

Fúlipollur is part of the active Krýsuvík geothermal system on the Reykjanes Peninsula, close to the better-known Seltún geothermal area. The feature is associated with sulphur-rich steam and mud activity, and its Icelandic name reflects the distinctive smell. The surrounding landscape shows the effects of high-temperature geothermal alteration, with mineral staining and hot ground. Conditions at geothermal sites can change, so visitors should never step onto steaming, soft or discoloured ground and should follow any local signs, barriers and access restrictions.
