About Björgin í Grímsey
Mikið fuglalíf er í björgunum í Grímsey, m.a. mikil lundabyggð (1). „Á fyrri tímum voru björgin í Grímsey mikilvæg matarbúr og átti hver bær sitt bjargsvæði þar sem tínd voru egg og fuglar veiddir.“ Í dag eru björgin vel merkt með nafni. „Björgin á austur hluta eyjarinnar eru hæst og eru allt að 60 til 100 metra há. Að tína egg úr þessum björgum gat verið hættusamt verk í þá daga en björgin voru samtímis mikilvægt forðabúr fyrir eyjaskeggja. Eggjatínslumenn sigu allt að 60 til 70 metra niður af bjargbrúninni og var vaðsins gætt af sex til sjö manns uppi á brúninni“ (2).
