„Árið 1948 var ljóshúsi sem áður hafði verð notað á Gróttuvita komið fyrir á steinsteyptri plötu í Súgindisey við Stykkishólm. Ljóshúsið er frá 1897 teiknað af dönsku vitamálastofnuninni. Ljóshúsið er elsta vitamannvirkið sem starfrækt er hér á landi, þó svo að það hafi ekki alltaf staðið á sama stað“ (1). Vitinn er orðinn 100 ára gamall og er frábærlega staðsettur. Góða göngustíga og útsýnissvæði er hægt að finna í kring (2).
