📖 History of Reykholt

Reykholt was the home of Snorri Sturluson (1179–1241), one of the most important figures in medieval Scandinavian literature. He wrote the Prose Edda (a key source for Norse mythology), Heimskringla (a history of Norwegian kings), and is believed to have authored Egils Saga. His hot pool, Snorralaug, is one of the oldest known man-made structures in Iceland. Snorri was assassinated in his cellar in 1241 during a political power struggle.
