From the saga: "Harðar saga og Hólmverja (3) Maður hét Þorvaldur er bjó á Vatnshorni í Skorradal, mikill maður og sterkur. (22) Hann stóð upp skjótt og fóru þeir yfir háls til Vatnshorns í Skorradal. (22) En er konur komu í fjós að Vatnshorni þótti þeim undarlegt er naut öll voru laus. (22) Eigi vildi Hörður láta neyta yxnisins fyrr en maður var sendur til Vatnshorns að segja hið sanna um ferðir Geirs. (22) Segja það og nokkurir menn að Hörður muni hafa bætt bónda að Vatnshorni fyrir menn sína og yxni og því muni hann þetta mál ekki síðan kært hafa.Laxdæla saga (62) Riðu þeir Reykjardal og svo yfir hálsinn til Skorradals og svo upp eftir skóginum í nánd bænum að Vatnshorni, stíga þar af hestum sínum. (62) Bærinn að Vatnshorni stendur skammt frá vatninu fyrir sunnan ána."
