📖 Story
Eyrbyggja saga tells the story: A Swedish berserker served a Snæfellsnes farmer and fell in love with his daughter. The farmer promised her hand if the berserker built a road across the impossible Berserkjahraun lava field. The berserker and his companion cleared rocks and built a path through the jagged lava. When finished, the farmer killed both berserkers and buried them in the lava field. Today Route 54 crosses where the berserker's road was built — a saga landscape of twisted lava, moss, and legend.
