Story & Folklore
Búlandstindur is a pyramid-shaped mountain rising 1,069 metres above Berufjörður in east Iceland — remarkable for its perfect geometric form that looks almost deliberately constructed. The mountain is composed of ancient Tertiary basalt, among the oldest rock in Iceland, eroded into its distinctive triangular profile by glaciers. Búlandstindur is visible from long sections of the Ring Road around the fjords of East Iceland and has become one of the region's most recognisable landmarks. The mountain forms part of the backdrop to Djúpivogur village below and the colourful Egg sculpture installation at the harbour.
