Our Northern Lights self-drive tour is a unique and flexible way to explore Iceland's stunning scenery and natural wonders while chasing the elusive aurora borealis. You will have the freedom and convenience of driving your car but with the guidance and support of our expert Northern Lights Hunter.

How does it work?

• You will drive your car.
• You will join our WhatsApp group for each night of your tour. In the group, you will receive live location updates and critical insights from our northern lights hunter, who will scout the best spots and conditions for viewing the northern lights.
• You will follow the live location link and know the location of our Hunter. You will have at least 200 meters from the Hunter and his clients, as he will have his own car and group. After the Hunter has found a suitable location, he will pin some possible parking in the area. You are welcome to find your spot in that general area but never park on the side of a main road.
• If my regular tour is not operated- you will receive live updates and a location fit for viewing with pinned parking.
• You will see what our Hunter sees - and be in a location where the lights will be seen-
• You can stay longer or get home earlier just as you feel like, as you are not bound to other travelers.
• Search area we drive out from Reykjavik - sometimes just out of the city and sometimes up to 1.5 hours each way from Reykjavik, depending on night conditions.
• If you are away from Reykjavik or the regular tour of the Hunter is not on- worry not, as the Google pins and information will be sent to the group- with expert cloud cover knowledge based on eight different cloud cover forecasts with satellite image examination and space weather information that is more accurate than any app or other predictions- From possibly the best northern lights expert in Iceland.

The booking is valid for 7 days.

• Sightings are not guaranteed. Some nights will have complete cloud cover, and there is not much to do about that. Driving in Icelandic winter can be challenging, and you need to evaluate whether it is safe. Roads and parking areas might be snow-heavy and require a 4x4 vehicle. Weather warnings might be in place, and roads are sometimes closed.
