"Skólavarða er á háheiði, sunnan Veigastaðavatns, hlaðin árið 1928 af nemendum Menntaskólans á Akureyri." (1) Falleg og vinsæl gönguleið liggur að Skólavörðu á Vaðlaheiði, en þaðan er mikið útsýni yfir Eyjafjörð og Akureyri handan fjarðar (2,3). „Lagt er stað frá Veigastöðum en best er að aka upp vegslóða norðan við húsið Værðarhvamm og leggja þar. Leiðin er stikuð af Ferðafélagi Akureyrar. Hækkun er tæpir 500 metrar og leiðin fram og til baka um 5 km.“ (2).
