„Morðin á Sjöundará eru einn frægasti ástarharmleikur Íslandssögunnar. Rúmlega 200 ár eru síðan atburðirnir áttu sér stað. (...) Atburðirnir áttu sér stað árið 1802 þegar Jón Þorgrímsson og Guðrún Egilsdóttir voru að öllum líkindum myrt á bænum Sjöundá á Rauðasandi. Spjótin beindust fljótt að Steinunni Sveinsdóttur, eiginkonu Jóns, og Bjarna Bjarnasyni, eiginmanni Guðrúnar. Hjónin höfðu deilt jörð og búið í sama húsi í einhvern tíma ásamt börnum sínum en sögusagnir fóru af meintu ástarsambandi Steinunnar og Bjarna.“
