Neskaupstaður is the largest town in the Eastfjords region, sitting at the end of Norðfjörður (North Fjord). The town has a thriving fish processing industry, a good museum (Tryggvasafn art museum) and excellent hiking access into the surrounding mountains. Nearby the dramatic Oddsskarð mountain pass connects Neskaupstaður to the Ring Road and offers panoramic views of the fjord system. The town hosts the Bræðslan music festival in late July.
