Sigurður snikkari og kirkjusmiður Sigurðsson og Guðrún Jónsdóttir fluttu niður í víkina í Hólmavík og byggðu sér nýjan bæ töluvert utar, á túnbletti sem Ásgeir hafði byrjað að rækta. „Þarna bjuggu þau í fjögur ár og þar fæddist sonur þeirra hjóna, Stefán skáld frá Hvítadal, þann 16. október 1887. Hann getur því kallast einn af fyrstu innfæddu Hólmvíkingunum. Minnisvarði um Stefán var reistur nærri fæðingarstað hans árið 1990.“
