Minnisvarði um Gest Pálsson skáld var reistur í Reykhólasveit árið 1991. Verkið sem er rúmlega þriggja metra hár blágrýtisdrangur eftir Þóri Barðdal myndhöggvara er staðsett veginn í alfaraleið. Gestur Pálsson fæddist að Miðhúsum í Reykhólasveit, 25. september 1852 og dó í Kanada 19. ágúst 1891. Gestur Pálsson aðhylltist raunsæisstefnuna og eru margar sögur hans „frábærar og hafa þær verið þýddar á fjölda þjóðtungna og má nefna tvær sögur sem flestir þekkja, en það eru sagan af Uppreisninni á Brekku og Kærleiksheimilið.“
