History & Background
Í margar aldir var Malarrif mikilvæg, þó hættuleg, fiskveiðabyggð á Snæfellsnesi. Herfræðileg staðsetning þess, þar sem strandlengjan undir jöklinum gengur lengst til suðurs, gerði hana að kjörnum stað fyrir fiskibáta. Hins vegar voru vötnin undan Malarrifi alræmd fyrir hættur, sem gaf staðnum orðspor sem einn hættulegasti fiskveiðistaðurinn á öllu svæðinu.
