„Þórarinn Magnússon var brautryðjandi Hvítasunnustarfsins í Stykkishólmi. Hann kom þangað fyrst 17. janúar 1947 ásamt Hertu konu sinni, Guðmundi Markússyni og Pétri Péturssyni. Þau dvöldu þar í 10 daga og héldu tvær samkomur í kirkjunni og síðan nokkrar í samkomuhúsi bæjarins og var aðsókn mjög góð. Þórarinn kom aftur seinna um veturinn og hélt þá samkomur í heimahúsum, en hann er fæddur og uppalinn á Snæfellsnesi. Um sumarið var sótt um lóð undir samkomuhús að Skúlagötu 6 og eftir að hún fékkst, var hafist handa í byrjun júlí að grafa fyrir húsinu. (...) Sumarið 1950 var haldið sumarmót Hvítasunnumanna í Stykkishólmi og var húsið þá formlega vígt.“
