Bakgrunnur
Saga og bakgrunnur
FlyOver Iceland has been a significant site in Iceland's landscape. Throughout the years, this location has played an important role in Icelandic culture and natural history.
FlyOver Iceland uses motion seating, large-format projected footage and environmental effects to simulate a flight across Iceland. The experience is designed as entertainment rather than a traditional museum, making it a practical indoor option for families and visitors who want a cinematic overview of the country’s landscapes.
Þjóðsögur
Saga og þjóðsögur
FlyOver Iceland, which opened in 2019 in the historic harbour area, offers a 20-minute flight simulation over Iceland's most spectacular scenery. Wind, mist and scent effects enhance the sensation of flying low over Þingvellir rift, Dettifoss waterfall, the Westfjords coastline and the Vatnajökull ice cap. The pre-show covers Icelandic history and natural history through engaging animation. It is particularly recommended for families with children who may find conventional museums insufficiently dynamic.
Visstu að?
FlyOver Iceland uses the same motion-rider technology as similar experiences in Vancouver and Dubai — high seats tilt and swing while 8K footage fills a massive spherical screen.
