Djúpavogskörin is a natural geothermal hot spring in East Iceland, a reminder that Iceland sits directly on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The island is essentially the visible tip of a volcanic hotspot — constantly active beneath the surface. Hot springs have been used by Icelanders for bathing, cooking and heating for over a thousand years, long before geothermal energy became a global concept.
