Saga Dimmuborga er djúpstæð jarðfræðileg frásögn, fædd úr eldheitum djúpum fornnar eldvirkni. Þessar stórkostlegu myndanir eru leifar mikils goss sem átti sér stað fyrir um 2.300 árum, upprunnið frá gígarröð sem kallast Lúdentarborgir.
