Embark on an unforgettable journey to Landmannalaugar, one of Iceland’s most breathtaking highland destinations. This full-day tour takes you from Reykjavík City into the heart of Iceland’s rugged wilderness, where colorful mountains, volcanic landscapes, and geothermal wonders await.
Your Adventure Begins
Your day starts with a hotel or bus stop pickup in Reykjavík, where you’ll board our comfortable vehicle and set off towards the highlands. Driving through the Hellisheiði Geothermal Area, we pass steaming vents and lava fields before reaching the charming town of Selfoss. Shortly after, we leave the main road behind and venture deeper into Iceland’s untamed landscapes.
Spectacular Stops Along the Way
- Hjálparfoss Waterfall – A picturesque twin waterfall nestled in a basalt landscape, offering a perfect photo opportunity.
- Ljótipollur Crater – A striking red volcanic crater filled with deep blue water, creating a stunning contrast against the rugged highlands.
- Frostastaðavatn Lake – A serene lake surrounded by lava fields and colorful rhyolite mountains, showcasing nature’s raw beauty.
Upon arrival at Landmannalaugar, we take a break for lunch before heading out for an optional two-hour guided hike. Those eager to explore can join our guide on a scenic trek through Laugahraun Lava Field and the vibrant Green Canyon, where you’ll witness steaming geothermal vents and the striking rhyolite mountains that make this area so unique.
For those looking to unwind, there’s an opportunity to soak in the natural geothermal hot spring at Landmannalaugar—an experience not to be missed!
Return to Reykjavík
After a day filled with exploration, we begin our journey back to Reykjavík, arriving in the evening with memories of Iceland’s highland magic.

Bring warm clothes. Good shoes for hiking and something that is wind and water proved. Bring towel and swimming clothes if you are going to dip in to the geothermal pool
