Þjófafoss

Þjófafoss lies in Þjórsá east of Merkurhraun and south of Búrfell. Visit South Iceland notes that the waterfall's flow is strongly affected by hydropower operations upstream and is often lower in winter, with more water passing over the falls when reservoirs are full. The name means 'Thieves' Waterfall' and local tradition says thieves were once drowned in its pool.
