Sobre Reykjarétt (Skeiðarétt)

Reykjarétt, también llamada Skeiðarétt, es una histórica instalación para reunir y clasificar ovejas cerca de la granja Reykir, en el sur de Islandia.

Reykjarétt (Skeiðarétt) is a traditional sheep round-up and sorting site on the Skeið plains of South Iceland, south of the farm Reykir in Skeiða- og Gnúpverjahreppur. The sheepfold dates to 1881 and was rebuilt with local lava stones and turf in 1981. For generations, local farmers have brought sheep down from summer highland grazing areas in autumn and sorted them by ownership at communal réttir. The pens represent a living part of Iceland's rural culture, not a theme park or a bookable attraction. Visitors interested in the annual round-up should verify the event schedule with the municipality and respect farmers, animals, private land and any access restrictions. Outside round-up days, avoid assuming access or facilities are provided. The location is approximately 64.046394° N, 20.451588° W.
