History & Background
Einar Jónsson nació en 1874 en Þórsmörk y mostró talento artístico desde la infancia. Consiguió una beca para Copenhague, luego estudió en Roma y regresó a Islandia como el primer escultor serio del país. Diseñó su casa-museo en 1923, negociando con el Estado islandés para asegurar su legado. Trabajó en el edificio hasta su muerte en 1954, habiendo realizado más de 150 obras importantes.
