Did You Know?
Ásmundur designed the museum building himself with no formal architectural training — the domed modernist structure was considered bizarre when built in 1942 but is now recognized as architectural innovation.
The Sculptor Who Built His Own Temple
Ásmundur designed and built his studio like a modernist temple — white domes rising from Laugardalur valley. He wanted a building as bold as his sculptures.
