Neðri-Botn (nú Litlibotn)
Neðri-Botn: Where a tragic tale of a chieftain's greed and a sorcerer's curse unfolded.
In the saga of Droplaug's Sons, Neðri-Botn, now known as Litlibotn, is the site of a dramatic and sorrowful event. Here lived chieftain Þorgrímr, a man known for his wealth and, unfortunately, his avarice. He refused to grant a fair division of inheritance to his sons, leading to immense familial strife.
This greed angered the sorcerer Grímr, who was connected to the family. In his wrath, Grímr cursed the land and its inhabitants. The curse is said to have brought ruin and misfortune upon Neðri-Botn, forever marking it as a place of past injustice and sorrow.
The tale serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of greed and the power of ancient curses in Icelandic lore.
